The Role of the National Association of the NNA
The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, otherwise known as the HUD, is a cabinet agency in the U.S. executive branch. The purpose of this agency is to administer the programs that are implemented by the Department to carry out policies concerning housing finance and development, including the provision of mortgage insurance and the underwriting of loans for such purposes. It carries out many activities associated with the management and maintenance of local affordable housing. The mission of the HUD is to promote affordable residential mortgage services for low and middle-income families in urban and rural communities, through education and counseling programs, and through the provision of mortgage assistance.
The Department offers home affordable programs for first time home buyers, home buyers, and rehabilitation or mortgage refinancing. The main function of this department is to coordinate and administer federal housing agencies in providing housing assistance to needy families. Another important function of this department is to promote the use of housing incentives and other programs to encourage home ownership and property investment. To provide rental home plans and programs to encourage rental home financing, HUD proposes plans to promote and participate in various programs for home financing, including the FHA-insured loan program and national multifamily program.
The FHA-insured loan program provides a source of federal financial support for the loaning of mortgage loans for the purchase of a single-family home or a multi-unit apartment complex. Under this program, an insured mortgage lender will underwrite a specific mortgage to purchase a home. In order to qualify for the loan, the mortgagor, the home owner, and the agent representing the seller must submit proof of income and a complete application with a lot of financial information. This documentation will ensure that the borrower will be qualified for the loan. The purpose of this program is to provide an opportunity for low and moderate-income families to purchase homes.
The National Neighborhood Association also has its own HUD office. It was established to promote housing opportunities through various strategies, such as home buying assistance, home retention assistance, and fair housing programs. Although not officially part of HUD, it is still very much an integral part of the organization. The NNA offers various housing counseling services to its members, in addition to housing counseling offered by various other agencies.
The NNA also works in association with various other nonprofit and governmental groups. These associations specialize in housing finance and coordinate with state and local agencies for the purpose of providing housing finance programs to low and moderate-income families. Another HUD office that works closely with NNA is the Office of Vocational and Rehabilitation Services (OVRS). This office oversees the FHA home loan mortgage program, which is a significant source of the NNA’s income. FHA is a part of HUD, and the OVRS coordinate various programs for FHA and NNA members. Both of these organizations have a wide range of assistance programs and employment opportunities for people who need them.
Many housing counseling agencies offer these types of services to their clients. They may be non-profit or for-profit organizations. The services offered may be in the form of one-on-one counseling, group therapy, workshops, and case management. In some cases, they provide both one-on-one counseling and group therapy. Counseling services are provided for a variety of different needs, ranging from preventing foreclosure, to getting an eviction out of a home, to finding drug treatment programs and other similar programs. The NNA has been instrumental in assisting such organizations with this goal.
