Everyone should be treated equally under the law and that includes all Americans regardless of their race, color, or religion. Unfortunately, many people in our country believe that only certain races, religions, or sexual orientations deserve equal rights.
In fact, if we do not treat all people equally under the law, then we are allowing those who feel different to be treated differently than others. Some people believe that a person with darker skin can be discriminated against in jobs and other places of employment. Other people believe that the less religious a person is the less likely he will be victimized in a job or other situation.
There are no statistics that prove that people of any ethnicity or religious background are treated any worse by employers than a person of any other background. However, if someone is willing to take the time to do the research on their own before they make their next decision regarding employment opportunities, they will most likely find that this is a myth.
As long as we are honest people and treat everyone fairly, we will have no problem meeting those challenges. We also need to remember that there are some issues that can’t be resolved just by working together. If you are someone who believes that discrimination is not a big deal then there is probably a good reason why you don’t see yourself having to face discrimination or unfair treatment. Those who are truly against this concept may never face discrimination because they would never let it happen to them.
The bottom line is that fair treatment is essential. A person’s ability to achieve his dreams will be greatly diminished if he or she has been denied an opportunity. If you have ever lost your job because someone thought you were not qualified, then you know what kind of an effect that can have on a person. If you are the type of person who works very hard and puts in long hours of hard work then you are also going to be affected negatively by discrimination. In order for us to achieve our goals and to make a living in our society, we need to treat each other with respect and fairness and to not treat other people unfairly.
Treating everyone fairly under the law is not about race, religion, or sexual orientation. It is simply about being honest with one another. If someone is willing to tell you something that you do not want to know then they probably should not be telling you. anything at all. If you feel that you have been treated unfairly and you have a strong opinion, then speak up.
